South Hill Events:

Club President Elect Randy Cash recently attended the Presidents Elect Training Seminar in Northern Virginia and during this time was able to speak with Rotary International President Elect John Germ.


In early 2016 the Rotary Club of South Hill donated and assisted with the first display of this new 20' x 30' flag to be flown on special occasions such as Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veterans Day.

Club members helping the Chamber of Commerce on Nov 30, 2016 celebrate the Christmas season.

Club members enter our "Float" into the South Hill Christmas Parade on Dec 4, 2016. The "Rotarian of the Year" rides on the float along with club members and/or family members.


Our annual celebration of the services performed by our local emergency services branches. This year, District 7600 Governor Diane Hagemann joined us in the celebration on February 7, 2017.

Each year Club member Dwayne Gwaltney requests the club participate in a program he started several years ago. Each year the Club agrees to "Feed the Dragons" prior to the home opening game of the season. The program invites businesses and clubs to feed the Park View High School Dragons football team before each home game and in some cases the away games as well. We request the team be informed about Rotary's PolioPlus project and to display the "We are this Close" symbol. August 2016.


Each year we donate approximately 250 dictionaries to 3rd graders at our 2 local Elementary schools. On Oct. 10, 2016 members delivered to Lacrosse Elementary School.

In memory of Rotarian Tom Leggett our club each year provides stuffed animals and toys to "Gleaning For The World" for shipment to children around the word. The average number collected each year is 800-1000. In 2016-2017 we shipped 900 assorted stuffed animals. Help is provided by South Hill United Methodist Church and the local Girl Scouts. The toys are delivered to Appomattox by Rotarian Dwayne Gwaltney and Town and Country Cleaners.

The 2016-17 Grant project is moving forward. The current phase is the installation of the connector hallway and putting the door in place.

Our annual "Highway Cleanup Project" is a commitment to environmental service in the community. Our Chair John Evans makes all the arrangements for this project and has been duly titled "Trashmaster". 05/04/2017

Rotarian John Evans doubles as or "Bellmaster" as well. He organizes the Club efforts to support the Salvation Army on Dec. 3, 2016.


 We love Rotarians who get all wrapped up in our projects!! Dwayne Gwaltney, our Community Service Chair, loves to make cotton candy.
